This short course is a general introduction to the application of biological principles in engineering. The course will show students how biological principles and systems can be used to develop environmentally sound and sustainable solutions. The class will review designs and solutions, across various engineering fields, that mimic nature to solve problems and build systems that are more resilient. The course will focus on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals #6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), #11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and #15 (Life on Land).
